Job Description

We are looking for a Soft Engineering Manager with specific experience in PHP and other languages to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We are a dynamic web media platform with a lot of features related to streaming, video on demand, various payment systems integrations, video editing, and others. We expect you to be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with building tech in a legal and compliant tech sin industry.

Our core stack is Laravel in the back end and Vue.js SPA Applications in the front end. The server structure is split between AWS and Digital Ocean

Responsibilities

• Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
• Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage
• Help departments use technology profitably
• Supervise system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency
• Build quality assurance and data protection processes
• Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance
• Use stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
• Communicate technology strategy to CEO and CTO
• Interviewing and hiring developers QA and other tech resources
• Managing server architecture and DevOps
• Coordinating different projects
• Allocating resources under the existing budget
• Tech budget planning
• Final code review
• Performance review of existing resources
• Creating an infrastructure to manage resources
• Lead the strategy for technology platforms, partnerships, and external relationships
• Represent the technological agenda in staff meetings and when making hiring decisions
• Identify, compare, select and implement technology solutions to meet current and future needs
• Develop, track and control the development of annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations
• Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial targets
• Create overall technology standards and practices and ensure adherence
• Consolidate our technology platforms and create plans for each
• Track, analyze, and monitor technology performance metrics
• Oversee all system design and changes in system architecture
• Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in the technology landscape
• Work closely with Marketing, Business Development, and Operations to define and deliver new products and enhancements

Requirements Skills and Expertise

• Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager or similar leadership role
• Knowledge of technological trends to build a strategy
• Understanding of budgets and business-planning
• Ability to conduct technological analyses and research

• PHP, Laravel (ability to do code review and discuss tasks with senior developers)
• Media Processing (FFMPEG, image and video conversion), we use Go server to convert images on the fly to webp
• Highload applications, MySQL optimization
• PageSpeed Optimization (bundles, chunking, Lazy load, image optimization, DOM size optimization)
• Monitoring improvement (logging, Nginx, 3rd party tools for bug tracking and bug fixing)
• Experience in integrating APIs from high-risk industries
• Server cost optimization
• WebSockets
• Organizing cross-browser and cross-device testing
• Some experience with Web3 and crypto is preferred but not required
